The role focuses on driving predictive and prescriptive yield management, improving ramp performance, and scaling engineering systems across sites.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires 12+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, yield engineering, defect metrology, or process integration.
Responsibilities
The manager will set strategy, run multi-site programs, and deliver measurable yield and productivity improvements. Key responsibilities include:
- Define and execute a multi-year strategy for yield and defect engineering, integrating AI/ML, automation, and digital workflows.
- Lead enterprise programs to transition from reactive analysis to predictive/prescriptive yield management.
- Champion deployment of AI solutions for defect detection, classification, root-cause analysis, and excursion prevention.
- Drive integration of data platforms, digital twins, and real-time decision intelligence into fab operations.
- Oversee yield performance across development and high-volume manufacturing; align to yield, quality, and delivery targets.
- Lead cross-functional efforts to resolve complex yield limiters and minimize supply impact from defects.
- Define defect metrology strategy, tool selection, and scalable defect management systems.
- Translate executive vision into roadmaps, milestones, and disciplined program execution across process integration, equipment, and manufacturing.
- Build and develop a high-performing team with capabilities in engineering, data science, and AI fluency.
Requirements
Must-have technical and leadership capabilities; preferred items listed separately.
- 12+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing with deep expertise in yield engineering, defect metrology, or process integration.
- Proven record leading complex, cross-functional programs in high-volume manufacturing and during ramp/HVM phases.
- Demonstrated experience driving yield improvement and defect reduction at scale.
- Deep knowledge of defect metrology tools, inspection systems, and yield analysis methodologies.
- Experience integrating data analytics, machine learning, or AI into engineering workflows and production systems.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder influence, and cross-organizational communication skills.
- Experience defining and scaling enterprise engineering systems or platforms and aligning technical work to business outcomes.
Nice-to-have
- Experience leading AI/ML transformation initiatives or digital manufacturing ecosystems (data platforms, MES integration, advanced analytics).
- Familiarity with advanced packaging technologies such as Foveros or EMIB and heterogeneous integration.
- Strong business acumen connecting technical outcomes to cost, cycle time, and revenue impact.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Data Science, or a related technical field is expected; advanced degree (MS/PhD) in a technical or data-centric discipline is preferred. The posting also allows equivalent qualifications obtained via industry experience, internships, or relevant coursework/project work.
