Job Title

WPM Sort Module Process Engineer

Role Summary

Support Wafer Packaging Manufacturing (WPM) SORT Test Engineering operations in Leixlip to sustain and improve product, process and equipment health for automated wafer test. Work with cross-functional and international Intel teams to optimize test platforms, improve manufacturing quality and reliability, and enable new product readiness.

Experience Level

Entry-level (minimum 2 years relevant experience)

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include sustaining test platform health, debugging failures, and improving test and sort processes.

  • Learn and maintain Intel test platforms (semiconductor logic testers, 300mm wafer handlers, probe card interfaces, embedded controllers, test software and integration flows).
  • Investigate and debug test platform failures across electrical, process, mechanical, optical and software domains.
  • Contain and manage disposition of affected production material (ICs under test).
  • Perform data mining and analysis of test results and tool logs to detect early performance issues.
  • Run statistical analyses of parametric test results across equipment to identify discrepant tools.
  • Isolate failing hardware by correlating parametric signals to test circuitry or mechanical/optical systems.
  • Provide escalation point and technical support for technicians; coach technicians and produce debug documentation (instructions, manuals, videos).
  • Project-manage new-product readiness, new test methods, equipment upgrades/conversions, and debug marginalities on new products.
  • Manage spares portfolio, coordinate repair loops, and maintain equipment performance and availability targets.
  • Develop scripts and processes to optimize test activities and collaborate with other Intel sites on continuous improvement.
  • Support understanding and improvement of sort integration, shipping systems, and supply chain operations.

Requirements

Must-have skills and competencies; nice-to-have items listed separately.

  • Must-have: Minimum 2 years relevant industry experience.
  • Must-have: Demonstrated problem-solving ability and capacity to research and learn new topics quickly.
  • Must-have: Good communication and teamwork skills to work with S/W, H/W and process groups.
  • Must-have: Ability to plan and prioritize work and meet time-constrained debug requirements.
  • Must-have: Practical scripting/programming experience in any language (examples: Python, C#, SQL).
  • Nice-to-have: Data analysis experience (pivot tables, SQL, Power BI, JMP).
  • Nice-to-have: Moderate knowledge of statistics.
  • Nice-to-have: Understanding of micro-electronics / semiconductor physics.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with AI and willingness to implement AI into sort processes.

Education Requirements

Minimum: an honours degree (NFQ Level 8) in Electronics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Physics or a related STEM field.
