NXP SemiconductorsJob Title
Working Student (f/m/d) - RF Validation and Lab Automation
Role Summary
Join the Terahertz Lab at NXP Germany to support development, measurement, and automation for mmWave and sub‑THz systems (≈100 GHz and above). The role focuses on RF validation, lab automation, simulation, and reporting to support automotive radar, robotics, and communications R&D.
Part-time student role in a hands‑on engineering team, combining lab measurements, simulation work, and development of automated test and data‑management tools.
Experience Level
Entry-level - working student. Suitable for Bachelor’s or Master’s students; previous coursework or project experience in RF or signal processing recommended. Maximum 18 hours/week.
Responsibilities
Primary tasks include measurement, simulation, automation, and collaboration with lab engineers.
- Perform and analyze RF measurements using oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, VNAs, and power supplies.
- Develop PHY-level and system-level simulations for active and passive components.
- Run electromagnetic (EM) simulations for passive components.
- Create pre- and post-processing scripts and automated reports for measurement results.
- Develop automated test routines and remote-control interfaces for measurement equipment.
- Implement automated storage and management of measurement data and contribute to the lab automation library.
- Work closely with lab engineers to improve measurement setups, automation, and reporting.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and personal attributes for on-site lab work. Education specifics are listed under Education Requirements below.
- Proficient in Python or MATLAB for signal-processing or electrical-engineering tasks.
- Hands-on experience with RF measurement equipment (oscilloscope, signal generator, spectrum analyzer, VNA, power sources).
- Experience with EM- and system-level simulation tools; Ansys HFSS and PathWave SystemVue are preferred.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, attention to detail, and structured working habits.
- Self-motivated, flexible team player with good communication skills; fluent English (spoken and written).
- Ability to work on-site in Hamburg and handle security-related tasks reliably.
