WLAN Test Automation Engineer
Role Summary
Develop and maintain scalable test automation frameworks and CI/CD integrations for Wi‑Fi protocol and system testing. Work within the BU Wi‑Fi / Wi‑Fi Connectivity Group to improve test coverage, automate test execution, and accelerate product delivery.
Experience Level
Mid-level — typically 5+ years of relevant experience in test automation, DevOps, or QA/Automation roles.
Responsibilities
Deliver automation and CI/CD solutions to validate Wi‑Fi functionality, performance, and system behavior.
- Design, develop, and maintain Python-based test automation frameworks for Wi‑Fi protocol testing.
- Implement automated regression, feature validation, performance, and system-level tests.
- Write and optimize automation scripts in Python, Shell, and C.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar) and automate build/deploy/test workflows.
- Provision and manage test environments using Docker, containers, and virtualization tools.
- Debug automation failures, improve reliability, and document test suites and processes.
- Collaborate with development teams to enable fast, repeatable release cycles.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.
- 5+ years' experience in test automation, DevOps, or combined QA/Automation roles.
- Strong programming in Python and C; experience building automation frameworks from scratch.
- Hands-on CI/CD experience (Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent).
- Experience with Linux and embedded platforms.
- Networking fundamentals and practical knowledge of Wi‑Fi standards (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be).
- Familiarity with Git, code review workflows, Docker, and containerized environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and effective written and verbal English communication.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with virtualization technologies and advanced test infrastructure automation.
- Prior experience integrating hardware-in-the-loop or RF testbeds into automated pipelines.
