Wireless SoC RF Integration and Validation Engineer
AppleJob Title
Wireless SoC RF Integration and Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Deliver RF integration end-to-end for wireless SoC products, including DUT control development, pre-silicon emulation/simulation, RF calibration, bring-up, validation, and compliance toward mass production. Work within Apple's wireless silicon development team across RF/analog, systems, VLSI, verification, test, and firmware/software engineering.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The posting does not state explicit years of experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include RF integration, calibration, validation, and automation across hardware and software domains:
- Develop and integrate RF end-to-end DUT control sequences and verify with emulation systems.
- Perform wireless SoC RF bring-up and first-touch silicon validation and compliance testing.
- Design and develop RF block and system calibrations, algorithms, and optimizations.
- Characterize and optimize RF performance metrics (Psat, IP3, NF, ACPR, phase noise, lock time, return loss).
- Design RF test benches and implement scripts to control wireless SoCs and test equipment.
- Write scripts to plot, parse, and analyze large datasets and generate RF performance summary reports versus chip specifications.
- Develop RF calibrations and tests for Wafer ATE and Module ATE mass production and analyze ATE failures.
- Develop RF firmware and automation tools, including Python-based reference scripts.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred technical skills.
- Must-have: Solid experience with RF parametric testing (IP3, NF, ACPR, phase noise, load pull).
- Must-have: Strong working knowledge of RF test equipment: network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, vector signal analyzers, vector signal generators.
- Must-have: Strong wireless RF background and familiarity with RF systems fundamentals and transceiver architectures.
- Must-have: Experience with DUT control sequences, RF bring-up, and silicon validation.
- Nice-to-have: Proficiency reading RFIC block-level schematics; experience with RF PCB design, debug, and development.
- Nice-to-have: Python programming for test automation and data analysis.
- Nice-to-have: Embedded systems experience and C programming; experience developing automation frameworks.
Education Requirements
Minimum requirement of a bachelor's degree. Field of study not specified in the posting.
