WIFI PHY Senior Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Join Qualcomm's Bangalore Wireless R&D Hardware team to verify Wi‑Fi and/or modem PHY IP for mobile, wearable and IoT chipsets. You will own block/IP verification tasks across the VLSI verification cycle and collaborate with design, architecture and system teams to achieve verification closure on advanced process nodes.
Experience Level
Senior level. The role targets engineers with hands-on design verification experience; typical hires have multiple years of DV experience (skills section indicates 2–4 years of practical experience).
Responsibilities
Accountable for planning and executing verification for PHY/IP and achieving coverage and quality targets.
- Own IP/block/SS level design verification end-to-end: analysis, verification plan, testbench and test development, assertions, simulations, and coverage closure.
- Verify PHY TX and RX datapaths and associated control algorithms for Wi‑Fi and/or modem designs.
- Develop and maintain SV/UVM verification environments and constrained-random tests.
- Explore and adopt verification methodologies including simulation, formal, emulation to improve coverage and efficiency.
- Debug RTL and testbench issues using tools such as Verdi; drive root-cause and fixes with design teams.
- Collaborate with worldwide design, architecture and system teams to meet project milestones and deliverables.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical experience required for success in this role.
- Strong SystemVerilog and UVM-based verification skills; experience with assertions and coverage-driven verification.
- Proven experience building or maintaining medium-to-complex SV/UVM environments and writing efficient constraint-random tests.
- Strong debugging and analytical skills; able to independently diagnose RTL/TB issues using tools like Verdi.
- Hands-on experience in block/IP verification and delivering verification closure for silicon projects.
- Effective written and verbal communication to work with distributed design and architecture teams.
Nice-to-have / preferred:
- Prior experience verifying Wi‑Fi or modem PHY layers.
- Experience with formal/static verification methodologies and power-aware verification (GLS).
- Scripting skills in Python and/or Perl.
- Familiarity with wireless protocols and modem/Wi‑Fi standards; IP verification of DSP-related HW blocks.
Education Requirements
Minimum qualifications specify a Bachelor's in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field plus 2+ years of hardware engineering or related experience; OR a Master’s in those fields plus 1+ year of experience; OR a PhD in those fields.
