Wafer Sort Module Engineer

Role Summary

This on-site role in Albuquerque manages and maintains Wafer Sort toolsets in a high-volume semiconductor manufacturing environment. The engineer ensures tool availability, process quality, safety, and supports new tool installations, upgrades, and qualifications.

The role collaborates with cross-functional teams and suppliers to drive equipment reliability, process development, technology transfer, and new product introduction.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Early Career β€” minimum 2+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree, or 1+ year with a master's degree.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on sustaining tool performance, preventing excursions, and enabling high-volume production.

  • Operate, maintain, and optimize Wafer Sort toolsets to meet availability and performance targets.
  • Monitor daily performance, troubleshoot issues, and prevent defects.
  • Support new tool installations, upgrades, equipment qualification, and NPI (new product introduction) activities.
  • Execute testing and metrology to control critical dimensions and defectivity.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, cost, productivity, and yield.
  • Collaborate with equipment suppliers and cross-functional teams to resolve technical challenges.
  • Participate in technology transfer, training, and auditing across manufacturing sites.

Requirements

  • 2+ years' experience in manufacturing process control, equipment engineering, or related fields (1+ year with a master's).
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing process improvement, problem-solving, and excursion management.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Familiarity with process improvement methodologies and Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and a quality-focused approach.
  • Effective communication, collaboration, project management, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to lead projects from problem identification to resolution in a high-volume production environment.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Materials Science and Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or other STEM field. Equivalent practical experience is accepted per Intel policy. Candidates with a master's degree may be considered with 1+ years' relevant experience.
