VLSI Engineer II
Role Summary
Design, simulate, test and implement VLSI circuits and subsystems for server and networking products. Work on a hybrid engineering team (average 2 days/week on-site) collaborating with internal teams and external partners to deliver prototypes and production solutions.
Experience Level
Mid-level (VLSI Engineer II). Typical guidance: 0–4 years of experience in VLSI design, verification, or implementation.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Design portions of computer/server/networking architecture and VLSI circuits according to specifications.
- Simulate and test designs; analyze results and iterate to meet quality, schedule, and cost goals.
- Develop verification models and use EDA/FPGA tools to validate designs.
- Collaborate with management, project teams, and outsourced development partners on progress and issue resolution.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Hands-on experience or coursework in VLSI design, integrated circuits, architectures, and related algorithms.
- Understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals, digital logic, and computer architecture.
- Familiarity with hardware description languages, programming/scripting, and EDA/FPGA toolchains.
- Analytical problem-solving skills and ability to work independently within an established framework.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with server or networking ASICs, or end-to-end prototype-to-production VLSI projects.
- Prior mentoring or leadership of junior engineers.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent; coursework in VLSI design is noted. The posting also accepts equivalent practical experience.
