VLSI Engineer II

Role Summary

Design and implement VLSI components and subsystems for server and networking products. Work within a cross-functional engineering team and with external partners to deliver reliable prototype and production silicon.

Contribute to architecture, logic design, simulation/verification, and physical implementation while meeting quality, schedule, and cost targets.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The posting indicates approximately 0–4 years of relevant VLSI design, verification, or implementation experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Design, simulate, and test VLSI circuits and subsystems according to specifications.
• Define architecture and logic for portions of computer/server/networking designs.
• Perform analysis, experiments, and evaluation to support prototypes and production solutions.
• Collaborate with project teams, management, and outsourced partners on design status and issue resolution.
• Ensure designs meet quality, schedule, and cost objectives.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers.

Requirements

Key skills and experience required (must-haves first):

• Strong understanding of VLSI principles, digital logic, and computer architecture.
• Hands-on experience designing VLSI components, integrated circuits, or related architectures.
• Practical skills in programming/scripting and hardware description languages (HDLs).
• Familiarity with electronic design automation (EDA) tools and/or FPGA toolflows.
• Analytical problem-solving skills and ability to work independently within a team.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Nice-to-have: prior project experience in server/networking silicon or coursework in VLSI design.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent; posting allows equivalent practical experience. The posting also references coursework in VLSI design. (0–4 years of VLSI design/verification/implementation experience noted.)
