Video Design Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Work on verification of video and related subsystems within Qualcomm hardware projects. The role focuses on developing coverage-driven verification environments, creating testbenches and reference models, debugging failures, and collaborating with designers and verification engineers to ensure correctness and performance of silicon IPs and subsystems.

Experience Level

Mid-level — looking for candidates with approximately 1 to 13 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

The role includes verification and validation activities across module and subsystem levels, with emphasis on automation, debugging, and cross-functional collaboration.

• Design and implement coverage-driven verification environments and testbenches (agents, monitors, checkers, stimulus).
• Develop and maintain SystemVerilog/UVM testbenches and verification infrastructure.
• Integrate and validate C-based reference models inside verification environments.
• Debug failures using waveform/log tools and refine tests to isolate issues.
• Develop assertions and verification monitors to improve defect detection.
• Collaborate with designers, verification engineers, and system teams to close bugs and meet performance targets.
• Contribute to subsystem verification, gate-level and power-aware simulations, and emulation as needed.

Requirements

Key technical skills and experience required or preferred.

• Must-have: Experience with coverage-driven module verification, strong SystemVerilog and UVM skills.
• Must-have: Testbench development experience (stimulus, agents, monitors, checkers) and assertion development.
• Must-have: Debugging experience using tools such as Verdi and log analysis.
• Must-have: Familiarity with mainstream EDA tools (for example IUS, VCS, Verdi).
• Must-have: Experience integrating or debugging C-based reference models within verification environments.
• Must-have: Scripting experience (Perl, Python) for automation and test development.
• Must-have: Strong teamwork and communication; proactive interaction with designers and other verification engineers.
• Nice-to-have: Prior experience with video pipelines or multimedia IP verification.
• Nice-to-have: Knowledge of Tensilica cores and subsystem verification involving Tensilica.
• Nice-to-have: Exposure to C-based system modelling, gate-level simulation, power-aware simulation, formal verification, and emulation.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related technical field is specified.
