Validation Engineer - Staff
Role Summary
Member of the Silicon Validation team responsible for system-level validation and integration of SoC silicon. Focus areas include pre-silicon emulation/simulation/FPGA work and post-silicon bring-up, regression, and PVT testing, collaborating with hardware, software, and verification teams.
Experience Level
Senior (Staff). Typical experience guidance: 4+ years with a Bachelor's, 3+ years with a Master's, or 2+ years with a PhD in a relevant field (see Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Design and execute validation strategies for multi-processor SoC platforms across pre- and post-silicon phases.
- Design, develop, and optimize validation tests for multi-processor systems with emphasis on system-level concurrency.
- Develop and maintain bare-metal software, including low-level hardware interfaces, register and interrupt programming, and clock and power management.
- Collaborate with architects, designers, verification and software teams to define and validate system-level software use cases.
- Debug and troubleshoot System-on-Chip issues with limited visibility using development boards and lab equipment.
- Implement and optimize algorithms for performance, power efficiency, and memory footprint.
- Support pre-silicon validation with simulation, emulation, and FPGAs.
- Conduct post-silicon bring-up, regression testing, system-level use cases, and system integration.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Strong understanding of operating systems concepts, caching, virtual memory, and embedded software fundamentals.
- Proven bare-metal software development and low-level hardware interface experience.
- Proficiency in C and Assembly language.
- Exposure to scripting languages such as Python or Linux shell.
- Experience debugging SoC-level issues with limited visibility and using lab equipment.
- Experience with pre-silicon and post-silicon validation, integration, or related ASIC validation work.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience applying machine learning models for system validation.
- Familiarity reading RTL (Verilog, VHDL) and applying that knowledge in silicon validation contexts.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field with 4+ years of ASIC design/verification/validation/integration experience; OR Master's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field with 3+ years; OR PhD in Science, Engineering, or related field with 2+ years.
