Job Title

Validation Engineer – Post-Silicon Functional Validation, Compute Subsystem (CSS)

Role Summary

Develop and execute validation methodologies and test plans for Arm compute subsystems across pre-silicon and post-silicon phases. Collaborate with architecture, design, verification, emulation, firmware and software teams to detect, isolate and resolve system-level issues and ensure silicon meets functional and performance requirements.

Experience Level

Entry-level; 1–3 years of relevant industry experience in SoC, subsystem, or IP functional validation.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute pre-silicon and post-silicon validation plans for compute subsystems.
  • Build and maintain test environments, automation frameworks, and validation infrastructure using emulation and silicon platforms.
  • Perform system-level functional validation of CPU clusters, coherent interconnects, memory controllers, and peripheral integration.
  • Drive root-cause analysis and debug hardware, firmware, and software issues; support silicon bring-up and board-level testing.
  • Develop diagnostic, stress, and performance workloads to validate functionality, power, and performance.
  • Analyse coverage gaps and contribute to improving validation efficiency and quality metrics.
  • Contribute to automation and continuous integration for validation workflows.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • 1–3 years' experience in SoC, subsystem, or IP-level functional validation.
  • Strong understanding of ARM-based SoC architecture, AMBA protocols (AXI/ACE/CHI), cache coherency and CPU subsystems.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and scripting (Python) for test automation and analysis.
  • Experience with hardware validation tools (logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, JTAG) and pre-silicon simulation/emulation environments.
  • Familiarity with C-based IP drivers and firmware for system-level bring-up.
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills to triage complex hardware/software interactions.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with emulation systems, CI for validation workflows, or developing performance/stress workloads.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
