Job Title
Validation Engineer Intern
Role Summary
Summer 2026 onsite internship supporting bench validation of new silicon products (e.g., DDR, memory controllers, mixed-signal ICs). The intern will develop and execute validation tests, use lab instrumentation for electrical characterization, and work with Design and Test teams to diagnose silicon issues.
This position is a hands-on engineering role based in the San Jose lab, focused on improving validation methodologies and contributing automation to streamline test processes.
Experience Level
Entry-level — Intern (Master's student). Summer internship (June 22–August 14, 2026).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities during the internship period.
- Assist in development and execution of bench validation plans for new silicon (DDR, MCR, memory controllers, other ICs).
- Perform electrical characterization and performance benchmarking using oscilloscopes, BERTs, AWGs, power supplies, and similar lab equipment.
- Document test procedures, results, and findings in engineering reports.
- Debug and troubleshoot silicon and test-platform issues in collaboration with Design and Test engineers.
- Contribute to development and enhancement of automated test frameworks and validation scripts to improve efficiency.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Design, Test, Marketing) to align validation scope with product requirements.
Requirements
Technical skills and experience expected for successful candidates. Education requirements are listed separately below.
Must-have:
- Familiarity with lab equipment and measurement techniques for silicon validation (oscilloscopes, power supplies, BERT, AWGs, multimeters).
- Proficiency in Python and experience with test automation; familiarity with C/C++ or scripting languages for data analysis.
- Hands-on experience writing or running automated tests and using programmable test equipment.
- Solid understanding of digital and analog circuits, semiconductor device basics, and computer architecture principles.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to communicate technical issues clearly within cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Prior experience with silicon validation benches or memory interface testing.
- Experience improving or building validation automation frameworks.
Education Requirements
Currently enrolled full-time in a Master’s degree program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field; must not have graduated before September 2026. (Master's enrollment and graduation timing are mandatory for eligibility.)
