Job Title
R&D Trainee / Apprentice / VIE
Role Summary
Join the Research & Innovation (R&I) department as part of a multidisciplinary team developing next-generation electronic systems for electric and autonomous mobility. The apprenticeship is a multi-year development path aimed at progressing from a technician role toward an operational engineer role.
Experience Level
Entry-level. Targeted at students in an engineering apprenticeship; no prior professional experience required beyond relevant coursework or internships.
Responsibilities
The role involves hands-on work across analysis, electronic design, prototyping and validation within R&D projects.
- Analyze customer needs and translate them into technical specifications for complex electronic systems.
- Contribute to electronic architecture and schematic design, including placement for routing with cost, size and energy constraints.
- Support development of miniaturization solutions (System-in-Package, heterogeneous integration) and printed electronics for lighting applications, incorporating recyclability considerations.
- Assemble and test prototype circuits; execute validation test campaigns (pull-tests, aging tests) on new materials such as conductive inks and flexible substrates.
- Contribute to safety documentation (Safety Reports, FMEA/AMDEC) in accordance with ISO 26262.
- Perform technology watch and collaborate with academic and industrial partners on innovation activities.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and personal qualities for the apprenticeship.
- Basic knowledge of analog and digital electronics.
- Familiarity with microcontrollers and embedded systems programming.
- Practical interest in prototyping, testing and materials (e.g., conductive inks, flexible substrates).
- Ability to follow and contribute to functional safety processes (ISO 26262).
- Rigor, analytical mindset, technical curiosity and ability to work in project teams.
- English proficiency for technical documentation.
Education Requirements
Student preparing an engineering degree in electronics (Bac+5 / Master's-level engineering program) via apprenticeship. Field: electronics or closely related engineering discipline.
