Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Work on validation of next-generation PMIC (power management IC) products at TI's Oulu design center, covering silicon bring-up, laboratory measurements, test automation, and system-level debug. The role combines hands-on lab execution with ownership of validation methodology and cross-functional technical leadership across silicon, hardware, software, and systems domains.
Experience Level
Mid-level - typically 3β5 years of relevant validation, application, or semiconductor laboratory experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Define validation plans, methodologies, and coverage for next-generation PMIC products.
- Perform silicon bring-up, laboratory testing, and validation of power electronics hardware.
- Develop and maintain test automation, measurement scripts, and validation infrastructure to increase coverage and reduce data-collection time.
- Perform root-cause analysis of complex silicon, hardware, or system-level issues and translate findings into engineering recommendations.
- Collaborate with systems, applications, design, and operations teams to resolve technical issues and improve product robustness.
- Document and present test results tailored to the audience.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 3β5 years' experience in validation, application engineering, or related semiconductor lab/test development roles.
- Practical experience with test automation and data analysis using Python, LabVIEW, TestStand, or similar frameworks.
- Hands-on laboratory measurement and validation infrastructure development experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to influence cross-functional teams and present findings.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with automotive standards such as ISO 26262 and ISO 16750.
- Knowledge of PCB design and fabrication processes.
- Experience with issue-tracking tools (Jira) and version control (Git).
- Familiarity with AI-assisted code generation tools (e.g., Claude Code, Nigel AI) for building and validating test automation.
Education Requirements
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field is specified (Degree Level: Master's Degree).
