Validation/Characterization Engineer

Role Summary

The Validation/Characterization Engineer develops and executes validation plans for analog/digital devices in a post-silicon lab. The role focuses on designing test PCBs and automation software, implementing measurement methods, and diagnosing device or test-system failures to ensure parts meet datasheet and validation requirements.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Minimum required: 6+ years of related validation or test experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities involve test hardware and software development, measurement execution, and failure analysis in post-silicon validation.

• Design PCB test boards and test fixtures for device validation.
• Develop automation software and infrastructure to increase coverage and reduce data-collection time.
• Design, implement and verify measurement methods for device performance.
• Run and manage post-silicon lab validation cycles and test programs.
• Analyze failures, determine root cause, and recommend mitigations to meet quality, safety, and datasheet requirements.
• Troubleshoot equipment, test systems, and device issues arising during validation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define test cases and validation scope.

• Must-have: 6+ years of validation or test experience (post-silicon lab experience preferred).
• Must-have: Hands-on experience designing PCBs and building test hardware.
• Must-have: Experience developing automation software for data acquisition and test control.
• Ability to read datasheets and design specifications to identify appropriate test cases and expected behavior.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, verbal and written communication skills; ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Nice-to-have: ADC validation knowledge.
• Nice-to-have: Experience implementing AI-driven Python infrastructure or similar automation to accelerate validation cycles.
• Strong time-management skills and demonstrated ability to take initiative and drive results.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field of study.
