Validation/Characterization Engineer
Role Summary
Join the DLP Systems Validation team to perform end-to-end validation of complex products combining physical hardware and high-level software/AI algorithms. The role focuses on system-level test development, debugging, and verification to ensure product readiness for customer launch.
Experience Level
Entry-level - requires a minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include designing and executing system-level validation activities across hardware and software boundaries.
- Design and implement validation and test plans for DLP systems covering hardware, embedded firmware, PC applications, and AI/ML components.
- Develop automated test code and data-analysis tools (Python) to exercise and verify system behavior.
- Operate lab equipment (signal generators, analyzers, oscilloscopes) to characterize electrical and video interfaces.
- Debug and triage system-level failures across electrical, firmware, and application software layers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, firmware, software, applications) to close validation gaps and resolve issues prior to release.
- Document test methods, results, and validation reports to support product qualification and customer launches.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- Minimum of 2+ years of professional experience in system- or product-level validation.
- Broad system-level knowledge of video/imaging operations and standard video and hardware interfaces.
- Proficient in software/test development using Python.
- Experience with lab instrumentation and practical measurement techniques.
- Experience with complex embedded systems, PC applications, and electrical interfaces.
- Strong verbal and written communication; ability to work with limited supervision in cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience using Python-based AI frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, NumPy) for test-data analysis or model-based validation.
- Experience validating AI/ML models deployed on edge hardware.
- Familiarity with schematic capture, board design, and PCB layout.
Education Requirements
