USB Applications Principal Engineer / Manager
Role Summary
Provide technical customer support for integrating DesignWare USB mixed-signal PHY IP from integration through silicon bring-up. Act as the customer-facing technical lead, troubleshooting integration issues, coordinating with Synopsys R&D and product teams, and delivering guidance that reduces time-to-silicon.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 10–20+ years of ASIC design or verification experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include customer support, debugging, and cross-team collaboration:
- Provide technical support for integration and silicon bring-up of DesignWare USB mixed-signal PHY IP.
- Troubleshoot synthesis, static timing analysis (STA), design-for-test (DFT), and clock domain crossing (CDC) issues.
- Advise on USB 2.0, USB 3.x, and Type-C protocol implementation and design tradeoffs.
- Collaborate with R&D and product teams to escalate complex problems and relay customer requirements into the roadmap.
- Deliver technical presentations and integration best practices to customer engineering teams.
- Travel occasionally to customer sites in Korea and the region to support critical milestones.
Requirements
Essential skills and competencies (must-have unless noted):
- Strong working knowledge of synthesis, static timing analysis, design-for-test, and clock domain crossing.
- Proven ability to diagnose customer integration issues and drive them to resolution independently.
- Excellent communication skills in Korean and English, able to explain technical concepts clearly to customers and internal teams.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and delivering technical presentations.
- Willingness to travel occasionally within Korea and the region.
- Nice-to-have: prior experience with USB 2.0, USB 3.x, or Type-C protocol implementation and bring-up.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
