Third-Party SerDes PHY Technical Lead
Role Summary
Join AMD's PHY and mixed-signal IP team as the technical owner for third-party SerDes interfaces, responsible for pre-silicon and post-silicon integration and support across AMD products.
Collaborate with integration, validation, package/PCB, and post-silicon teams as well as external IP vendors and customers to ensure electrical, logical, and physical quality of SerDes IP integrations.

Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership and hands-on support throughout IP evaluation, integration, and post-silicon validation.
- Act as AMD technical owner for third-party SerDes IP, providing pre-silicon and post-silicon leadership and support.
- Work with external IP vendors to support design transfer, release of design views and collateral, and IP integration across products.
- Partner with integration teams to ensure electrical, logical, and physical quality during integration.
- Support IC package and PCB teams with signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) analyses and evaluations.
- Perform technical evaluations of new IP for potential licensing and product suitability.
- Provide post-silicon support: first-silicon bring-up, debug, lab validation, characterization, compliance testing, and ATE production testing.
- Support customer-facing activities and vendor coordination for issue resolution.
- Capture post-silicon learnings and provide feedback and recommendations for future SerDes IP designs.

Must-have:
- Proven experience integrating and supporting third-party SerDes IP (PCIe, USB, DisplayPort/HDMI, MIPI, Ethernet, UCIe, or similar).
- Practical knowledge of high-speed I/O architectures and analog/mixed-signal blocks (CTLE, FFE, DFE, VGA, CDR, PLL/DLL, TX drivers, etc.).
- Hands-on lab experience with BERTs, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, or similar equipment for electrical and functional validation.
- Experience supporting post-silicon bring-up, debug, characterization, and ATE testing.
- Experience with scripting or automation (Python, Perl, or similar) and familiarity with UNIX/Linux environments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication skills.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States; this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

- Familiarity with advanced FinFET process technologies.
- Understanding of RTL, logic design, and digital circuits.
- Experience using AI-assisted tools to enhance engineering workflows.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering discipline preferred.
