Testsite Engineer, Quantum

Role Summary

The Testsite Design and Development engineer designs and develops in-house semiconductor test chips, testsites, and test structures to characterize emerging technologies and produce electrical data that informs technology and customer design enablement.

Works with technology development, design enablement, product, test, and manufacturing teams to translate measurement needs into silicon implementations and to iterate designs based on measured silicon results.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include testsite and test-chip design, measurement execution, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to accelerate technology maturity and customer enablement.

• Design and develop test chips, testsites, and characterization structures for semiconductor technologies.
• Define chip- and device-level structures to enable electrical measurement and technology characterization.
• Collaborate with technology, design enablement, product, test, and manufacturing teams to translate characterization needs into silicon implementations.
• Evaluate and process designs through design-to-mask readiness, including layout review, DRC/LVS, and release activities.
• Plan and execute electrical characterization and testing of fabricated test chips.
• Analyze silicon data, identify trends and root causes, and provide recommendations for design, model, process, or testsite optimizations.
• Iterate testsite and chip designs based on measured results to improve measurement capability and technology maturity.
• Document testsite architecture, measurement results, and technical conclusions; communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Perform work in a safe manner and support Environmental, Health, Safety & Security programs.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items noted.

• Relevant experience in semiconductor IC or test-chip design, technology development, device characterization, product engineering, or a related field.
• Working knowledge of semiconductor devices, IC design or layout, electrical characterization, and interpretation of silicon measurement data.
• Experience with design and verification flows: schematic capture, layout, DRC/LVS, extraction, simulation, or design-to-mask release processes.
• Ability to analyze technical data, identify root causes and trends, and translate results into design or technology improvements.
• Fluency in English, written and verbal.
• Preferred: experience designing test chips or characterization structures; familiarity with industry-standard EDA and data-analysis tools; understanding of CMOS process technology, device physics, variation and reliability; project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Physics, Microelectronics, or a related technical field required. Master’s degree or PhD in these fields preferred. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
