Testchip Product Development Engineer

Role Summary

The Product Development Engineer ensures the manufacturability and testability of integrated circuits, driving test methodologies from feasibility through production ramp. The role works with design, fab, assembly, quality, and manufacturing teams to validate test flows, debug test methods and equipment, and enable high-volume production.

Experience Level

Entry-level - typically 0–1 years of hands-on experience, or a Master's degree with no prior professional experience.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities center on developing and validating test solutions to support production qualification and ramp.

• Develop and drive testability and manufacturability solutions from feasibility to production ramp.
• Validate and debug complex test methods and automatic test equipment (ATE).
• Develop test flows, methodologies, and hardware solutions for production testing.
• Perform ATE device characterization, yield analysis, and define datasheet test specifications.
• Analyze design and component functionality to optimize production processes and meet specifications.
• Develop and debug software to convert design validation vectors and control test equipment.
• Lead manufacturing readiness activities and support milestones for new product introductions.

• Proficiency in programming languages used in test development (Python, C/C++).
• Understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes and testing methodologies.
• Familiarity with automatic test equipment (ATE) and device characterization techniques.
• Ability to develop and debug software for test vector conversion and equipment control.
• Experience or demonstrated ability to perform yield analysis and define test specifications.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related technical field) with 0–1 years of hands-on experience, OR a Master's degree in a relevant field with no prior professional experience. Internship, academic project, or hands-on training experience is acceptable as demonstrated experience.
