Test Process Engineer
Role Summary
The Test Process Engineer implements and monitors wafer backend production processes in a semiconductor photonics manufacturing environment. This role owns day-to-day wafer backend WIP, analyzes test yields, manages production issues, and works with cross-functional teams to improve manufacturing efficiency.
Position is based in the Semtech Photonics Products group in Alhambra, CA (onsite).
Experience Level
Senior β minimum 10 years of relevant semiconductor laser wafer production experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include ownership of production WIP, yield improvement, qualification planning, and production troubleshooting.
- Own wafer backend production WIP and maintain daily production updates.
- Analyze test yields and drive continuous improvement in manufacturing process efficiency.
- Collaborate with Device Design Engineers, Quality Assurance, operators, and production engineers to streamline process steps and requirements.
- Prepare and improve wafer qualification plans to meet ISO-9000 standards.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing test failures, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions in production environments.
- Operate and support fiber-optics test instruments (laser controllers, optical power meters, optical spectrum analyzers) in production tests.
- May require travel for OSAT and external test sites.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in this role.
- Advanced knowledge of wafer fabrication methodologies, parametric testing, and yield analysis.
- Experience in semiconductor wafer fabrication and product test environments.
- Proficient with at least one statistical analysis tool (JMP, Minitab, or MATLAB).
- Demonstrated experience with troubleshooting manufacturing test failures and executing root cause analysis.
- Extensive experience specifically in semiconductor lasers and photodiodes manufacturing environments.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with SolidWorks and MATLAB workflows.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office for reporting and data presentation.
Education Requirements
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field (e.g., electrical, mechanical, materials, or similar).
