Role Summary

Lead the test engineering function for electronic product validation and production test in Penang (Prai or Batu Kawan). Manage test strategy, test system development, test execution and cross-functional coordination to ensure products meet quality, schedule and budget targets.

Experience Level

Senior — typically requires a minimum of 8 years of test engineering experience in high-technology electronics or a related industry.

Responsibilities

Accountable for planning, executing and improving test activities across development and production phases. Key responsibilities include:

• Direct and coordinate test engineering personnel and technicians.
• Define test conditions, sequences and phases for product and system testing.
• Develop, procure, install and calibrate test instruments, equipment and control devices.
• Design or use software and hardware to execute automated and manual tests.
• Interface with engineering teams to resolve test failures, malfunctions and data issues.
• Evaluate and interpret test data; prepare technical reports for engineering and management.
• Train floor support, test technicians and operators on test procedures and problem-solving techniques.
• Investigate test yield issues, perform root-cause analysis, and coordinate corrective actions.
• Coordinate testers and test activities through each testing phase of a program.
• Assess testing alternatives and select the most effective strategy; document and manage associated risks.
• Identify process improvements and support their implementation.
• Plan and run meetings, workshops and client/user interactions during test planning and execution.

Required and preferred qualifications for successful candidates.

• Must-have: Minimum 8 years of experience in Test Engineering, including functional testing, burn-in testing, and automated testing in the electronics industry.
• Must-have: Experience managing test teams, projects and test phases to meet schedule and budget targets.
• Must-have: Proven ability to perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve yield.
• Nice-to-have: Knowledge of hardware and software test development and test automation.
• Nice-to-have: Familiarity with NPI test setup and Automated Test Equipment (ATE) development.
• Nice-to-have: Experience in automation or API development to improve test processes.

Education Requirements

Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
