Test Engineering Manager

Role Summary

Manage test engineering activities for electronic products at Flex facilities in Penang (Prai or Batu Kawan). Lead test strategy, test development, and test operations to ensure projects meet schedule, quality, and budget targets.

Serve as the technical lead and liaison between test engineering, software/hardware engineering, manufacturing floor support, and clients/users to define and execute system and product testing.

Experience Level

Senior — typically requires a minimum of 8 years of experience in Test Engineering, including functional testing, burn-in testing, and automated testing in high-technology electronics or a related industry.

Responsibilities

Manage test engineering process, teams, and delivery across development and production test phases.

• Direct and coordinate engineering staff in design, fabrication and deployment of test hardware, control systems, and test software.
• Define test conditions, sequences, and phases; develop system test plans and test strategies.
• Develop, procure, install, and calibrate instruments and automated test equipment (ATE).
• Analyze and interpret test data; prepare technical reports for engineering and management.
• Resolve test yield and product/system malfunctions through root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Develop and use software/hardware tools and automation to execute tests and improve test processes.
• Train and mentor floor support, test technicians, and operators on test procedures and troubleshooting.
• Coordinate test resources and activities across project phases and manage testing-related risks.
• Engage with clients/users and cross-functional teams during test planning and execution.

Requirements

Key skills and experience required or preferred for this role.

• Must-have: Minimum 8 years of experience in Test Engineering with hands-on experience in functional, burn-in, and automated testing in electronics or related industries.
• Must-have: Experience with test automation and development of test processes and tools.
• Nice-to-have: Familiarity with NPI test setup and Automated Test Equipment (ATE) development.
• Nice-to-have: Experience in automation or API development to improve test processes.
• Proven ability to lead technical teams, manage schedules and budgets, and coordinate cross-functional testing activities.
• Strong problem-solving skills and experience performing root-cause analysis for yield and test issues.

Education Requirements

Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field (engineering or similar) or an equivalent combination of experience and training; equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
