Role Summary

Summer internship on the Test Development team within Operations. The intern will help verify test code and test programs for semiconductor silicon, support new-silicon bring-up and production test activities, and work with cross-functional teams to resolve test failures.

Work is on-site in Santa Clara, CA (and additional locations). The role focuses on hands-on bench testing, running and validating test programs, and developing or modifying test code and strategies as needed.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship (student role) for Summer 2027. Intended for currently enrolled undergraduate students; no specific years of professional experience required.

Responsibilities

Day-to-day tasks during the internship typically include verification, test execution, and collaboration to diagnose issues.

• Verify test code and test programs across large sample sets of parts; identify and log unexpected results.
• Replicate failing behavior on the test bench and perform correlation with design/verification teams to determine root cause.
• Run bring-up, sampling, qualification/characterization, and production test programs as part of NPI activities.
• Develop or modify test code and testing strategies when existing equipment or programs are insufficient.
• Use bench instruments (oscilloscopes, spectrum/network analyzers) and automated testers for data collection and debugging.
• Optimize test time and yield under mentor supervision and follow team processes for releasing test programs.
• Communicate results and status clearly with design, program management, QA, and operations teams.

Requirements

Required technical skills and eligibility for the role.

• Understanding of digital and analog circuit fundamentals (from coursework, projects, or research).
• Software development experience; ability to code in a general-purpose language.
• Familiarity with Python, C, and Visual Basic.
• Comfort using bench test equipment such as oscilloscopes and spectrum/network analyzers.
• Ability to read schematics and locate chips on boards for debugging.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-team collaboration.
• Willingness to work on-site and follow test lab and NPI processes under mentor guidance.
• May require eligibility to access export-controlled technology; candidates must meet applicable export-control requirements.

Education Requirements

Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. The posting also notes that additional compensation may be available for intern PhD candidates.

Compensation and Benefits
