Job Title
Test Engineering Intern
Role Summary
Support development, debug, and characterization of automated test solutions for analog, mixed-signal, and power-management semiconductor products within the AI-focused Analog & Mixed Signal group. This is a hands-on, onsite internship in San Jose, CA (Aug 10βJan 15) covering bench bring-up through production test.
Experience Level
Entry-level (Internship). Intended for students currently enrolled in a university program; professional experience not required.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include developing test programs, performing lab measurements, and analyzing results to support characterization and production test.
- Assist senior engineers in developing and debugging ATE test programs (e.g., Advantest V93000, COHU Diamondx).
- Write and modify test code in C++ or Python to support characterization and production flows.
- Perform bench characterization using oscilloscopes, source-measure units, and power supplies; collect and log device performance data.
- Process and analyze test data (STDF, CSV, Excel) to identify trends, yield anomalies, and correlate ATE and bench results.
- Support load board bring-up, debug, and basic schematic review under hardware engineer supervision.
- Create and maintain engineering documentation: test plans, characterization summaries, and test flow descriptions.
- Collaborate with Design, Product, and Quality teams to align test requirements with device specifications.
- Participate in technical training and team meetings to build semiconductor test engineering skills.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and personal attributes; preferred items noted where applicable.
- Fundamental understanding of analog and digital circuits (coursework in circuits, electronics, or signals).
- Basic programming experience in Python or C++ (coursework or personal projects acceptable).
- Ability to analyze and process test data using tools such as Python (pandas, matplotlib), MATLAB, or Excel.
- Familiarity with lab instruments (oscilloscope, multimeter, power supply) through coursework or projects is helpful.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; effective written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a laboratory and team environment.
Education Requirements
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field (required). Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering is preferred. Required coursework includes circuits, electronics, or signals; related coursework or projects in semiconductor devices, VLSI, or mixed-signal design are desirable.
