Test Engineer, System-Level Test (SLT)
TenstorrentJob Title
Test Engineer, System-Level Test (SLT)
Role Summary
Design, implement, and maintain system-level test (SLT) software and infrastructure that validate silicon running real workloads in production-like environments. The role focuses on making tests deterministic and reliable for manufacturing while enabling structured debug to separate hardware, software, interface, and environmental failures.
The position works across validation, firmware, silicon debug, product engineering, manufacturing, and OSAT/fab teams and is based on a hybrid schedule out of Austin, TX; Santa Clara, CA; or Fort Collins, CO.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 10+ years of relevant experience in system-level test, embedded systems, software architecture, or hardware/software integration.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include building scalable SLT systems and enabling reliable manufacturing validation.
- Develop the SLT test execution framework that hosts validation-provided tests in production SLT environments.
- Build wrappers, harnesses, and abstraction layers so validation content runs unmodified with deterministic execution, dependency management, and structured error handling.
- Integrate functional, stress, and diagnostic tests into SLT platforms and adapt them for high-volume manufacturing with clear pass/fail criteria.
- Create logging, telemetry, failure-signature capture, and automated triage systems to accelerate debug and RMA workflows.
- Drive cross-domain issue resolution and define data standards for yield analysis and RMA investigations.
- Automate control of test equipment and handlers; integrate external instruments and environmental controls via standard protocols.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.
- 10+ years in system-level test, embedded systems, software architecture, or hardware/software integration.
- Proven software experience in C/C++ and Python (or similar languages) for test framework development.
- Applied object-oriented design to build modular, maintainable, extensible test frameworks, execution wrappers, and harnesses.
- Hands-on debugging across test hardware, Linux hosts, firmware, drivers, and operating systems to isolate failures.
- Experience automating control of test equipment, handlers, or external instruments using standard communication protocols.
- Strong collaboration skills working with validation, firmware, silicon debug, product engineering, manufacturing, and external test partners.
- Clear communication and documentation skills for defining pass/fail criteria, telemetry, and failure signatures.
Nice-to-have:
- JTAG, boundary-scan, or DFT experience.
- High-volume manufacturing, NPI, or OSAT/fab integration experience.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, or automated build/test infrastructure.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
