Test Engineer (Silicon Engineering)
Role Summary
Responsible for building and maintaining full-stack web applications, data platforms, analytics, and AI-powered tools to support silicon test, manufacturing, and production operations within Microsoft's Azure cloud environment. The role is part of the Silicon Manufacturing and Product Engineering (SMPE) team and works with test, product, and manufacturing engineering to improve quality, yield, and production efficiency.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Preferred 5–10 years of relevant engineering experience noted in preferred qualifications.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include software development, data engineering, and applying silicon test domain knowledge to production systems.
- Develop scalable full-stack applications, APIs, and backend services for manufacturing and test systems.
- Design and implement data platforms, pipelines, lakehouses/warehouses, and real-time analytics using Azure and Microsoft Fabric technologies.
- Automate test data processing, yield analysis, traceability, production monitoring, and test-efficiency improvements.
- Build GenAI and agentic workflow solutions for predictive insights, automation, and engineering productivity while following Responsible AI practices.
- Embed security-by-design across development: secure coding, identity and access controls, dependency management, and vulnerability remediation.
- Perform code reviews, testing, debugging, deployment support, and production incident response; drive performance and reliability improvements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with test, product, manufacturing, and security teams to deliver operational solutions.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and screening requirements; preferred skills listed separately.
- Proven full-stack development experience with JavaScript and Python.
- Experience with databases and data engineering concepts; ability to design and optimise data pipelines and analytics.
- Strong software engineering practices: source control (Git), CI/CD, code reviews, testing, and maintainable design.
- Experience delivering cloud-native solutions and working in Azure environments.
- Familiarity with test automation and engineering productivity tools; experience automating workflows and building engineering utilities.
- Ability to pass Microsoft's Cloud Background Check and meet export-control eligibility requirements; citizenship or residency documentation will be required for export-controlled access.
- Nice-to-have: Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Services, Kusto (KQL), SQL, AI/GenAI agent development, ATE/test programs, production test flows, and yield analysis.
Education Requirements
Preferred: Master’s degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science. The posting also references 5–10 years of relevant engineering experience in semiconductor test engineering, software development, or manufacturing systems in preferred qualifications.
