Job Title

Test Engineer β€” SerDes High-Speed IP ATE Test Development & Characterization

Role Summary

Develop and validate automated ATE test solutions for high-speed SerDes IP across design validation, characterization, NPI and volume production. Work with Advantest 93000 and other ATE platforms to verify SerDes PHYs (PCIe, UFS, USB2/3/4, DSI, CSI) and proprietary high-speed interfaces.

Collaborate with design, system, bench, vector and hardware teams to bring up tests, debug silicon issues, drive failure analysis to completion, and qualify production tests.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical guidance: 2+ years in hardware engineering or ATE test development (or 1+ year with a relevant advanced degree); PhD candidates with relevant experience considered.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include:

  • Design and implement ATE test solutions for production, design validation and characterization.
  • Bring up ATE test cases on Advantest 93000 and other tester platforms.
  • Develop tests for SerDes PHYs (PCIe, UFS, USB2/3/4, DSI, CSI) and proprietary high-speed IP.
  • Debug silicon and test failures in collaboration with design, system, bench and vector teams.
  • Support NPI and volume production: reduce test time, investigate yield issues, and implement production-ready tests.
  • Drive failure analysis to resolution across stakeholders and document findings.
  • Maintain clear documentation of test methods, procedures and results.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred skills:

  • Must-have: Hands-on experience in ATE test development and hardware test characterization (2+ years preferred).
  • Must-have: Familiarity with SerDes fundamentals (CTLE, CDR) and SerDes PHY operation.
  • Must-have: Experience with ATE platforms; experience with Advantest 93000 is preferred.
  • Must-have: Programming or scripting skills for test development (C/C++, Java, Perl, or similar).
  • Must-have: Understanding of signal integrity concepts and statistical analysis for test data.
  • Nice-to-have: Knowledge of digital, analog, mixed-signal design and VLSI test methodologies.
  • Nice-to-have: Test automation development and scripting/debugging experience.
  • Other: Strong debugging, communication, organization and documentation skills; proactive and able to work cross-functionally.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field. Preferred: Master's degree in Electrical Engineering. PhD considered. Equivalent practical experience is acceptable in lieu of formal degrees.
