Test Engineer
Texas InstrumentsJob Title
Test Engineer
Role Summary
Work on HVDC controller and Smart Power Stage products to develop and validate power solutions for enterprise computing. Partner closely with design, test, systems, firmware, and production teams to bring silicon from characterization to volume production and to resolve manufacturing, test, yield, and reliability issues.
Experience Level
Mid-level; requires 5+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Primary hands-on and ownership responsibilities for test, characterization, and production stability.
- Generate test plans and design test/characterization programs for silicon devices.
- Create ATE hardware interface boards (HIB/DIB) and related schematics.
- Bring up and debug silicon on ATE; correlate tester results with bench measurements.
- Analyze silicon results and support failure analysis and debugging tasks.
- Perform statistical analysis of yield fallout; identify root causes and implement corrective actions to improve yield and reduce test cost.
- Work with production teams to release products to volume production and sustain improvements on the factory floor.
- Define and implement test strategies for controller and power-stage devices; develop qualification programs.
- Collaborate with firmware and validation teams to identify firmware workarounds and support customer requirements.
Requirements
Key must-have skills and preferred qualifications.
- Must-have: 5+ years relevant experience; hands-on experience with silicon bring-up, debug, and characterization on tester platforms (e.g., ETS, UFlex, UFlex+ or equivalent); experience writing test plans and designing test cases; expertise in schematic design for hardware/device interface boards; experience in failure analysis and yield debugging; ability to lead projects to production release; strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally.
- Nice-to-have: Strong fundamentals in electronics (RC networks, op-amps, ADCs, DACs, GaN); experience offloading test program and hardware to offshore manufacturing sites; experience optimizing test time and reducing test cost; prior work on controller and power-stage device testing and qualification.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is specified as required.
