Test Engineer
Role Summary
Senior test engineer responsible for designing, developing, and scaling automated test programs and hardware for analog, digital and mixed-signal semiconductor products with a focus on power devices. The role leads test program development, supports qualification and production ramp, and provides technical leadership and mentorship within the test organization.
Experience Level
Senior β 8 to 12+ years of experience in automated test systems (ATE) and IC test development.
Responsibilities
Accountable for test strategy, development, and execution across NPI and production phases. Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain ATE test programs and test flows for new product introductions, quality, and capability improvements.
- Support product qualification, characterization, and correlation between ATE and lab measurements.
- Design and implement hardware and software baseline solutions to scale test operations.
- Train, mentor, and guide junior engineers; serve as a technical lead and subject-matter expert.
- Define and implement processes, procedures, and specifications for test execution and quality.
- Coordinate with product engineering and operations to enable production ramps and releases.
- Support production yield analysis, customer returns investigations, and continuous improvement.
- Manage equipment calibration, maintenance planning, and third-party technical relationships.
- Provide ROI inputs for test planning considering revenue, COGS, and capacity.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and hands-on experience for the role.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in ATE test development for analog, digital and mixed-signal ICs, with strong emphasis on analog power product testing.
- Proven experience with Automated Test Equipment (ATE) instruments and test platform expertise.
- Hands-on debugging and troubleshooting of analog products, including work with serial bus interfaces.
- Experience using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and spectrum analyzers for IC testing and data collection.
- Experience in test hardware design and test program development.
- Programming experience in languages such as C++, BASIC, Perl, and Python.
- Knowledge of PCB layout practices to minimize parasitics and support accurate testing.
- Experience managing vendors and coordinating with external technical teams.
- Strong communication skills to present technical findings and influence stakeholders.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree or higher (BS/MS/PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical field.
