Technical Program Manager - Embedded Software
Role Summary
Lead program execution for embedded and low-level software that enables EnCharge AI accelerators to run AI workloads. Act as the coordination point across firmware, drivers, hardware, architecture, compiler, runtime, validation, and customer/OEM delivery teams.
Own program plans from architecture through bring-up, pre-/post-silicon validation, and deployment; identify risks early and keep hardware-coupled software teams aligned with silicon milestones.
Experience Level
Senior β 8+ years of technical program or project management experience, with significant embedded software, firmware, driver, or low-level systems exposure.
Responsibilities
Manage embedded software programs and run a tight cross-team operating cadence.
- Own end-to-end program management for device drivers, firmware, bootloaders, and board support packages for accelerators.
- Build and maintain integrated schedules aligning software milestones with tape-out, silicon bring-up, board bring-up, and customer/OEM delivery.
- Coordinate scope, dependencies, and execution between embedded software, ASIC/hardware, platform, and validation teams.
- Identify, track, and drive resolution of cross-team risks and blockers (silicon errata, toolchain dependencies, OS/driver compatibility).
- Drive silicon bring-up and platform enablement: firmware, boot flows, device initialization, memory management, command submission, interrupts, and power management.
- Run planning, standups, milestone reviews, and retrospectives tailored to hardware-coupled software development.
- Manage execution across distributed engineering teams and external partners.
- Establish program management processes, tooling, and reporting.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications:
- 8+ years in technical program/project management with a significant portion focused on embedded software, drivers, firmware, or low-level systems.
- Direct experience coordinating software programs tightly coupled to hardware (silicon or board bring-up, or similar).
- Familiarity with Linux kernel driver development processes, JTAG/lab-based debug workflows, and hardware validation methodologies.
- Experience with FPGA simulation/emulation environments such as Zebu, Veloce, or Palladium.
- Strong understanding of embedded firmware, device drivers, SoC/accelerator architecture, memory/DMA, interrupts, boot/init, hardware/software interfaces, and system-level debugging.
- Proven track record managing complex multi-team schedules with hard external dependencies and strong risk-management instincts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; able to switch between engineering detail and executive summary.
Nice-to-have / preferred:
- Experience with AI accelerators (GPUs, NPUs, DSPs) or heterogeneous compute architectures.
- Prior silicon bring-up and early hardware/software co-development experience.
- Firmware experience for custom accelerators or SoCs and working across firmware, driver, compiler, and runtime teams.
- Experience managing external engineering partners or vendors.
