Technical Lead, Single Photon Sources Validation
PsiQuantumJob Title
Technical Lead, Single Photon Sources Validation
Role Summary
Lead validation efforts for cryogenic electro-optical assemblies that combine single-photon-source photonic circuits and superconducting single-photon detectors. The role owns validation planning, experiment design, data analysis algorithms, and execution of characterization campaigns.
Work cross-functionally with design, test, and lab teams to bring up cryogenic measurement setups and to close feedback loops into product design.
Experience Level
Senior β requires extensive industry experience; the posting specifies 12+ years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
Deliver validation plans, execute cryogenic characterization, and provide technical leadership.
- Define figures of merit and validation plans for cryogenic electro-optical assemblies.
- Design experiments and lead execution, including debugging and characterization of assemblies in cryogenic environments.
- Develop algorithms and data-analysis methods to extract performance parameters from measurement data.
- Bring up and maintain laboratory cryogenic test setups (light sources, detectors, switches, AWGs, oscilloscopes, etc.).
- Develop software scripts to automate measurement sequences and ingest data into databases.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review designs and provide validation-driven feedback.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and lead cross-functional project delivery.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items are listed separately.
- Proven track record leading complex, cross-functional projects from concept to product integration.
- Experience testing single-photon detectors and performing measurements in cryogenic environments.
- Hands-on experience with photonic integrated circuits, especially nonlinear optical PICs.
- Proficiency with optical and electrical test equipment: optical power meters, lasers, OSAs, oscilloscopes, AWGs, VNAs.
- Experience developing test methods, optimization, and tuning/calibration algorithms.
- Comfort writing measurement automation scripts and integrating data into databases or analysis pipelines.
- Strong debugging skills for hardware-in-the-loop and cryogenic systems.
- Ability to communicate results and technical recommendations to engineering and product teams.
- Nice-to-have: prior experience with photonics quantum experiments.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree or above in Engineering, Physics, or Materials Science. The posting also specifies 12+ years of industry experience.
