Technical Account Manager - High Tech

Role Summary

Own the technical relationship with strategic high‑tech and semiconductor customers, aligning Synopsys simulation and analysis solutions with customers' engineering and business objectives. Act as the primary technical advisor across product, support, and services to drive adoption, deployment, renewal, and expansion.

Work closely with Enterprise Account Managers and cross‑functional teams to resolve escalations, influence product direction, and ensure customers achieve timely value from deployed solutions.

Experience Level

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities for technical account stewardship, cross-team coordination, and customer success.

  • Establish and maintain long-term technical relationships with assigned strategic accounts; serve as the customer's single technical point of contact.
  • Collaborate with the Enterprise Account Manager to define short- and long-term technical plans and secure required regional resources (technical, training, consulting) to execute them.
  • Map customer technical requirements to Synopsys simulation and analysis solutions and coordinate global delivery across product lines and physics domains.
  • Drive technology deployment, adoption campaigns, and account-based marketing activities to increase product footprint and user adoption.
  • Review technical support activities, work with local support managers to ensure follow-up and coaching, and manage escalations to resolution.
  • Ensure tight feedback loops between field teams and product development for defects, enhancements, and roadmap considerations.
  • Qualify technical opportunities, lead technical campaigns for complex engagements, and advise on market sizing and competitive positioning.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience, followed by preferred qualifications.

  • Must-have: Several years of professional experience in an engineering software environment (see Education Requirements for specific year guidance); at least 4 years in application engineering, customer support, or consulting customer-facing roles.
  • Demonstrated experience with Synopsys simulation and analysis tools or other commercial CAE, CAD, EDA, or PLM software and workflows.
  • Ability to interact effectively with senior business managers and C-level executives; strong verbal and written English communication.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with a sense of urgency; proven ability to coordinate distributed global teams.
  • Experience managing support escalations, technical deployments, and programmatic adoption initiatives.
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 25% of time (50% preferred).
  • Preferred: Deep domain experience in electronics, high-frequency systems, or semiconductor design; strong proficiency in electromagnetic, signal integrity, or semiconductor-related workflows; track record of driving renewals and expansion.

Education Requirements

BS, MS, or PhD in Electronics, Thermal, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field. Experience guidance provided by degree: minimum 8 years with a BS, 6 years with an MS, or 3 years with a PhD. Preferred experience levels: ~12 years (BS), ~10 years (MS), or ~7 years (PhD).
