SiemensJob Title
TCAD Researcher / Software Developer
Role Summary
Join the Calibre R&D team to design and implement high-performance simulation and modeling software for semiconductor manufacturing and device physics. Work on numerical algorithms, scalable solvers, GPU-accelerated implementations and AI/ML surrogate models to enable high-throughput, high-fidelity simulations for advanced technology nodes.
Experience Level
Mid-level (experienced researcher/software developer). Typically requires multiple years of research or industry experience (often 5+ years of relevant experience).
Responsibilities
Develop, optimize, and maintain simulation software and related tooling.
- Design and implement numerical algorithms and solvers (FEM/FD/FVM/BEM, linear/PDE/eigen solvers).
- Develop parallel and high-performance code: distributed processing, MPI, GPU/CUDA acceleration.
- Integrate AI/ML surrogate models to accelerate simulation workflows.
- Implement software engineering best practices: Git-based CI/CD, automated regression testing, release management.
- Build and maintain cross-platform GUIs and visualization pipelines for large scientific datasets.
- Profile and optimize code for throughput and scalability on HPC and cloud platforms.
- Collaborate with product and research teams, estimate development tasks, and deliver on schedule.
Requirements
Core technical skills and attributes required for the role.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and Python for scientific and systems programming.
- Experience with numerical methods for scientific computing and solver development.
- Hands-on experience with HPC technologies: MPI, GPU acceleration, CUDA ecosystems.
- Familiarity with software engineering workflows: Git, CI/CD, automated testing, and release management.
- Ability to estimate development work, deliver on schedules, and work collaboratively in teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills for complex computational challenges.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with SLURM or other HPC schedulers and cloud execution environments.
- Experience with GUI frameworks (Qt/QML, PySide) and 3D scientific visualization.
- Familiarity with Monte Carlo methods, computational geometry, or advanced statistical methods.
- Prior work integrating AI/ML surrogate models into simulation pipelines.
Education Requirements
PhD in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or Engineering; or MS plus 5+ years of research or industry experience in related fields (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, etc.).
