Job Title

Systems Engineering Intern

Role Summary

The intern will support system-level development of analog and digital integrated circuits and products, participating in design, evaluation, and documentation from concept through production. Work is performed within a product development engineering team interfacing with design teams, business units, and customers.

Primary focus areas include system design specification, algorithm development, system reference models, silicon evaluation, and testing/debugging.

Experience Level

Entry-level (Internship). Role is intended for students currently pursuing a graduate degree or equivalent student status.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include system engineering tasks across IC and system development lifecycles:

  • Develop and document system-level requirements and IC design specifications.
  • Translate user requirements into functional specifications and system reference models.
  • Develop algorithms and participate in system architecture and design tradeoff decisions.
  • Evaluate silicon systems (hardware and software) and validate design behavior.
  • Perform testing, debugging, and verification of system-level issues.
  • Collaborate with design teams, business units, and customers to define product roadmaps and resolve technical issues.
  • Provide documentation for each step of the development lifecycle and support handoff to production.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Practical experience with system design, including writing IC design specifications and building system reference models.
  • Experience developing algorithms for system applications.
  • Proficiency in structured and/or object-oriented programming: C and C++ and Python.
  • Experience with Matlab and Simplis.
  • Hands-on testing and debugging skills for hardware/software issues.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; teamwork and collaboration across functions.
  • Time management, initiative, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Education Requirements
