Job Title

Systems Engineer - Robotics

Role Summary

Systems Engineer within the Industrial Business Segment (IBS) Corporate Strategy Team responsible for developing hands-on robotics demonstrations and evaluating Allegro's sensing and power products in real-world robotic subsystems.

This role combines mechatronics engineering, hardware evaluation, and technical marketing support to validate product performance for humanoid and industrial robotics applications.

Experience Level

Entry-level (0–5 years of professional experience); suitable for early-career mechatronics/robotics engineers.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include designing and building robot demos, evaluating hardware, and translating technical results into marketing materials.

  • Conceptualize, design, and build robotics demonstrations (e.g., humanoid joint actuators, dexterous hands) that showcase Allegro products.
  • Integrate motor drivers, magnetic sensors, and power management ICs into functional electromechanical subsystems.
  • Perform hardware evaluation, calibration, and debugging on sensing and power products.
  • Benchmark system-level performance metrics such as control loop latency, torque estimation, and sensor accuracy.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Product Line teams, and external partners to convert lab data into technical marketing collateral.
  • Act as a technical subject-matter expert bridging R&D, product strategy, and customer-facing demonstrations.

Requirements

Must-have skills and competencies for success in this role.

  • Familiarity with robotic control systems, kinematics, motion planning, and AI/ML-enabled systems.
  • Hardware and mechatronics experience: circuit design fundamentals, component selection, PCB layout workflows, and electromechanical systems (sensors/actuators).
  • Embedded systems experience with microcontrollers and practical programming in C and Python for testing and integration.
  • Experience with hardware evaluation, debugging, calibration, and system benchmarking.
  • Strong communication skills: able to distill technical lab results into clear stories and marketing materials.
  • Collaborative team player comfortable working across R&D, product, and marketing teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience building humanoid joint actuators, dexterous hands, or similar robotics demos.
  • Deeper familiarity with AI/ML techniques applied to sensing or control.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
