Job Title

Systems Engineer, RF and Wireless

Role Summary

Design, integrate, and validate RF and wireless systems for next-generation AR/VR wearable devices (e.g., smart glasses, headsets). Own end-to-end wireless performance across Bluetooth, Wi‑Fi, UWB, and cellular within compact, power-constrained products.

Experience Level

Mid-level (Level - Mid-Career). Position expects experienced engineers; minimum 6+ years of relevant RF or wireless systems engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Accountable for system-level RF architecture, test plans, and cross-functional execution to deliver reliable wireless performance in consumer wearables.

  • Define RF and wireless system architecture, including link-budget analysis, coexistence planning, and antenna placement strategies.
  • Lead system-level RF performance characterization and root-cause analysis across Bluetooth, Wi‑Fi, UWB, and other protocols.
  • Collaborate with antenna, hardware, and firmware teams to optimize RF front-end performance under spatial and power constraints.
  • Develop and own OTA test plans, conducted RF measurements, and regulatory pre-compliance validation.
  • Perform coexistence analysis and implement mitigation strategies for multi-radio platforms operating in shared spectrum.
  • Work with chipset vendors and ODMs to evaluate RF components, set specifications, and resolve integration issues.
  • Translate wireless system requirements into hardware and firmware specifications and track implementation across milestones.
  • Provide technical guidance on RF trade-offs, measurement methodologies, and debugging approaches.
  • Coordinate pre-compliance testing and support regulatory certification efforts (FCC, CE, ISED where applicable).
  • Identify wireless performance gaps and drive data-driven remediation across teams.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience. Preferred items listed separately.

  • Must-have: 6+ years of RF or wireless systems engineering experience, including system-level design and integration of Bluetooth, Wi‑Fi, UWB, or cellular.
  • Must-have: Practical experience with RF link-budget analysis, antenna system considerations, and OTA performance evaluation methodologies.
  • Must-have: Hands-on experience with RF measurement equipment and techniques (spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, OTA chambers).
  • Must-have: Proven experience identifying and resolving RF coexistence and interference issues in multi-radio consumer electronics or wearable platforms.
  • Must-have: Demonstrated ability to collaborate across hardware, firmware, and software teams to define and validate wireless system requirements.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience evaluating RF front-end components (PAs, LNAs, switches, filters) and qualifying vendor parts.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with regulatory certification processes (FCC, CE, ISED) and pre-compliance workflows.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with RF simulation and EM tools such as HFSS, CST, or equivalent.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience integrating wireless systems in space- and power-constrained wearable devices (AR glasses, VR headsets, hearables).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field - or equivalent practical experience.
