Job Title

Systems Design / Architect Engineer

Role Summary

Lead customer qualification and validation for Micron 7550 and 7600 SSD products using customer systems and Open Compute Project (OCP) specifications. Drive system- and device-level testing, debug and triage device issues, and coordinate cross-functional teams to resolve failures.

Design and implement SSD testing infrastructure, define validation strategies, and improve test coverage, automation, and efficiency across the product portfolio.

Experience Level

Mid-level (approximately 3–7 years of relevant experience). The posting specifies a Master's degree plus five years of post-baccalaureate experience.

Responsibilities

Accountable for planning, executing, and improving SSD validation and customer qualification activities.

  • Lead customer qualification programs and execute product validation flows to match validation plans.
  • Design, implement, and maintain test infrastructure and automation frameworks for SSD validation.
  • Develop test cases, scripts, PASS/FAIL criteria, and test schedules aligned with FW/HW architecture and customer requirements.
  • Execute tests, monitor/optimize test time, and analyze results; generate clear reports and historical revision tracking.
  • Root-cause analysis and defect management: reproduce failures, provide traceability, and drive resolutions across teams.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and other teams to define validation deliverables and influence product design for testability.
  • Define validation strategy, refine processes, and recommend new methods to increase coverage and testing accuracy.

Requirements

Required technical experience and skills for successful performance in this role.

  • Customer qualification experience for SSD/HDD products.
  • Product validation experience for SSD/HDD and working knowledge of SSD/HDD behavior.
  • Familiarity with NVMe and SATA protocols.
  • Proficient in Python and C/C++ for test development and automation.
  • Experience with Agile product development processes and project management.
  • Experience with quality and process improvement methodologies and tools (Lean, Six Sigma, value stream mapping, FMEAs, DMAIC).

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Computer Engineering, or a related technical field plus five (5) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in this role or a Systems Design/Architect Engineer-related occupation.
