Job Title

Systems and Hardware Enabling Engineer

Role Summary

Design and develop firmware that interfaces directly with hardware components (microcode, FPGA, IP-specific firmware) for client platforms. Work within a cross-functional hardware and software engineering team to abstract low-level hardware details and ensure seamless integration, performance, reliability, and security.

The role supports product bring-up, validation, and release of firmware used in client platforms.

Experience Level

Mid-level — typically requires 5+ years of relevant firmware and systems experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include firmware design, validation, and cross-functional integration.

  • Design, develop, and maintain firmware that interfaces with hardware components.
  • Create abstractions of low-level hardware for integration with higher-level software.
  • Perform design and code reviews to ensure quality, security, and functionality.
  • Test and validate implementations to meet system requirements and optimize performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to resolve technical issues and enhance firmware.
  • Apply secure development lifecycle and disciplined execution practices.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and technology innovation efforts.

Requirements

Key technical requirements and preferred skills.

  • 5+ years programming in C for firmware or embedded systems. (Required)
  • 5+ years developing UEFI firmware and/or BIOS. (Required)
  • 5+ years experience with client/server architecture. (Required)
  • Proficiency in firmware algorithm design and secure code development in C. (Required)
  • Strong understanding of computer architecture fundamentals and hardware design concepts. (Required)
  • Experience conducting code reviews and applying disciplined software development methodologies. (Required)
  • Preferred: familiarity with end-to-end firmware lifecycle processes (testing and validation); strong communication and cross-team collaboration skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's (BS) degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related specialized field.
