System Validation Senior Staff Engineer
Role Summary
Join the Marvell Switch Group as a system-level electrical validation engineer responsible for validating high-bandwidth Ethernet switching ASICs and system platforms. The role focuses on functional testing, root-cause debug of Layer‑1 issues (SerDes, signal integrity, link stability), and cross-functional collaboration to resolve system-level defects.
Work includes developing automated validation flows, executing lab test campaigns, and improving test methodologies to ensure product performance and specification compliance.
Experience Level
Senior - requires 10+ years of related professional experience.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include design and execution of validation tests and driving hardware/software debug.
- Develop and execute comprehensive functional tests for high-bandwidth Ethernet switching systems to verify behavior and performance against specifications.
- Drive debug of complex switching silicon and system platforms, emphasizing Layer‑1 issues: link-up flows, SerDes, signal integrity, link stability, and analog front-end behavior.
- Collaborate with software developers, hardware designers, architects, and operations teams to investigate system-level issues and accelerate root-cause identification.
- Design and improve automation and validation methodologies using modern tools to increase efficiency and test coverage.
- Perform hands-on lab validation using high-speed oscilloscopes, BERT analyzers, TDR/VNA, and other test equipment for signal and power integrity measurements.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, experience, and attributes.
- 10+ years of relevant professional experience in high-speed I/O validation, debugging, and system-level testing.
- Proficiency in programming (Python, Java, or C#) and experience with automation and data-analysis tools.
- Deep understanding of high-speed SerDes and equalization techniques.
- 5+ years of hands-on High-Speed I/O testing and validation experience.
- Experience with Memory, PCIe, and Ethernet system interfaces.
- Familiarity with board CAD tools such as Cadence and Allegro.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, high attention to detail, and effective cross-functional communication.
- Must be eligible to access export-controlled technology; applicants may be subject to an export license review prior to employment.
Nice-to-have:
