Job Title

System Test Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Lead technical role in post-silicon system and silicon validation for AMD EPYC Server and AMD Instinct products. Responsible for defining and executing system- and rack-level validation strategy, driving debug and root-cause analysis, and coordinating cross-functional engineering teams.

Works with architecture, SoC, firmware, OS, and infrastructure teams to improve validation throughput, automation, and product readiness.

Experience Level

Senior / Lead level. The role expects proven technical leadership in system validation and debug; no explicit years of experience were stated.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include validation planning, debug leadership, and process improvement.

  • Lead system-, rack-, and cluster-scale validation strategies for AI and machine-learning server platforms.
  • Define comprehensive validation plans covering scale-up and scale-out customer deployment scenarios.
  • Develop validation methodologies and test strategies across CPU, GPU, memory, BIOS, BMC, networking, storage, platform firmware, operating systems, and infrastructure components.
  • Lead investigation and root-cause analysis for complex hardware, firmware, software, networking, and system integration issues.
  • Define and enhance scalable validation frameworks, automation infrastructure, telemetry-driven workflows, and data-driven validation methodologies.
  • Analyze large-scale validation data to identify systemic failures, reliability risks, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Establish validation readiness criteria, quality metrics, and coverage strategies; communicate status and risks to senior leadership.
  • Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership to improve debugging effectiveness and validation practices.
  • Drive execution across multiple validation programs while managing priorities, dependencies, schedules, and technical risks.
  • Support customer-focused validation to ensure test environments represent real-world and hyperscale deployment conditions.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and capabilities are listed below; preferred items are noted separately.

  • Extensive post-silicon/system validation and debugging experience across OS, firmware, silicon, and hardware.
  • Strong understanding of x86 architecture, SoC design, memory subsystems, RAS, and power management.
  • Experience with platform- and system-level debug, including interactions between operating systems, device drivers, and system BIOS.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard buses and their software stacks (e.g., PCIe, CXL).
  • Proven ability to define validation strategies, build automation and telemetry workflows, and analyze large validation datasets.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and technical program management skills; ability to drive cross-functional technical decisions.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with AI rack/cluster validation and datacenter/hyperscale operating environments.
  • Knowledge of GPU/accelerator products and their integration with server platforms.
  • Experience improving validation methodology and automation at scale.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering preferred.
