System/Test Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Lead technical role in post-silicon system and silicon debug for AMD EPYC Server and Instinct products. Responsible for developing and executing debug strategy, performing system-level root-cause analysis, and coordinating resolution across SoC, firmware, software and system teams to meet product milestones and quality targets.
Work as part of the post-silicon validation group to improve debug methodology, tooling, and throughput while supporting product bring-up and production phases.
Experience Level
Senior β requires 15+ years of applicable validation/debug experience with lead-level responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Lead system and silicon debug during silicon bring-up, system validation, and production.
- Drive complex root-cause analysis for silicon and system failures and ensure timely, quality resolutions.
- Manage and track technical issues, risks, priorities, and program milestones; report status to stakeholders and executives.
- Publish debug program indicators and metrics to identify roadblocks and improve throughput.
- Design, develop, and deploy tools, scripts, and automated solutions to scale debug activities.
- Coordinate across global teams (System Architecture, IP, SoC, firmware, software, manufacturing) to drive fixes and product readiness.
- Participate in technical program management and cross-functional initiatives to un-gate milestones.
Requirements
Must-have skills and qualifications:
- 15+ years in validation or debug roles involving OS, firmware, silicon, and hardware issues.
- Proven experience in platform/system-level debug, device drivers, OS and BIOS interactions.
- Strong knowledge of x86 architecture, SoC design, memory, RAS, and power management.
- Familiarity with industry-standard interfaces and stacks such as PCIe and CXL.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and coordination skills; ability to prioritize multiple streams to tight deadlines.
- Experience leading technical teams and managing cross-functional debug efforts across time zones.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States; this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with datacenter technologies and related software stacks.
- Experience automating debug tools and developing scripts to improve throughput.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. (Posting specifies Bachelors or Masters with 15+ years of applicable experience.)
