System Software Engineer - SoC Validation
Role Summary
Join the SoC Post-Silicon Validation team to use Linux and system software to validate and debug advanced SoCs for infrastructure and data center systems. The role works at the hardware–software boundary to deliver software tests, automation, and failure analysis that improve silicon quality.
Experience Level
Entry-level / Early-career - approximately 2–3 years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
The engineer will develop and run software-based validation, analyze results, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to diagnose and resolve issues.
- Develop and run Linux-based tests and validation software for SoCs.
- Implement automated test frameworks and tooling to increase coverage.
- Analyze test results and investigate hardware/software failures.
- Collaborate with design, firmware, software, and verification teams to reproduce and debug issues.
- Improve validation infrastructure, automation, and coverage metrics.
- Take ownership of progressively complex validation areas as experience grows.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- About 2–3 years in Linux, embedded software, firmware, system software, validation, or related roles.
- Proficient in C/C++ and assembly; experience with Python or shell scripting.
- Practical understanding of computer architecture and operating system fundamentals.
- Experience using Linux for development, testing, or debugging.
- Strong analytical skills, curiosity, and ability to collaborate across teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Exposure to SoC validation, silicon bring-up, or post-silicon debug.
- Linux kernel or device driver experience.
- Knowledge of CPU and memory systems, PCIe, interrupts, or SoC interconnects.
