System Software Engineer - CUDA Chips

Role Summary

Develop system-level software for the CUDA driver to enable GPU acceleration across compute and graphics workloads. Work on pre-silicon simulation, early silicon bring-up, and production driver features for new NVIDIA chips.

Collaborate with hardware engineers and cross-functional software teams to design, implement, test, and stabilize CUDA features on multiple operating systems.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Early Career - typically 2+ years of relevant systems software development experience.

Responsibilities

The role spans design, implementation, validation, and productization of CUDA features across hardware and software stacks.

  • Develop and debug CUDA enablement code in pre-silicon simulation/emulation environments.
  • Drive CUDA feature enablement and bring-up for new silicon and GPU architectures.
  • Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and OS teams to stabilize and productize features.
  • Architect and implement forward-looking improvements to CUDA APIs and programming model.
  • Write maintainable, well-tested code targeting multiple operating systems.
  • Participate in design reviews, modeling, and early validation of new GPU capabilities.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience required for the role.

  • 2+ years of relevant systems software development experience.
  • Strong C programming skills and familiarity with parallel programming concepts.
  • Solid knowledge of computer system architectures.
  • Experience with OS interfaces for threads, process control, and virtual memory.
  • Experience writing and debugging multithreaded programs and working with large codebases.
  • Good written communication and collaborative skills; able to influence across teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with kernel-mode development and driver development on Windows, Linux, or macOS.
  • Understanding of system-level architecture (interconnects, memory hierarchy, interrupts, MMIO).
  • Knowledge of memory coherence and consistency models.
  • Familiarity with C++ and CUDA programming.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field - or equivalent practical experience.
