System Software Architect

Role Summary

Lead architecture definition and end-to-end system design for DPUs and NICs, focusing on cloud networking, orchestration, provisioning, security and network programmability. Work with global engineering, product, and customer teams to convert architecture into specifications and proof-of-concept prototypes.

This role reports to the SW Architecture group and contributes to next-generation data-center solutions across hardware and software stacks.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The position expects extensive experience; the source specifies 15+ years in SW/System architecture.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include defining architecture, producing specifications, and validating designs across HW and SW.

• Lead architecture for cloud networking including orchestration, provisioning and security solutions.
• Design system architecture for DPU and NIC platforms.
• Define end-to-end solutions from application level to hardware.
• Write clear, reliable architecture specifications and documentation.
• Evaluate new technologies and develop rapid POC prototypes.
• Collaborate with software and hardware architects, R&D, product, solution architects, application and field engineers globally.
• Engage with customers on advanced and future technology solutions.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience for immediate contribution.

• Extensive experience as a software or system architect (senior-level, source specifies 15+ years).
• Proficient in C and Python.
• Hands-on Linux development and container technologies (Docker, container ecosystems).
• Experience with cloud and data center networking and common networking protocols/topologies.
• Strong system design, coding, debugging and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to coordinate work across multiple internal and external teams globally.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and documentation skills.

Nice-to-have:

• Development experience with networking/security devices (NICs, DPUs, switches, routers, firewalls).
• Knowledge of OS internals and driver development.
• Experience with DPDK, OVS/OVN.
• Experience with Kubernetes internals, CRDs, Operators, system plugins and CNI development.
• Familiarity with OpenStack, OpenShift or cloud provider APIs.

Education Requirements

B.Sc, M.Sc or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering (as listed in the source).
