System Software Architect
Role Summary
The System Software Architect will define system-level architecture for NVIDIA's DPU and NIC platforms, focusing on networking, security, virtualization and orchestration. The role involves researching technologies, designing end-to-end solutions from hardware to application, and collaborating with global engineering teams and customers.
Experience Level
Senior-level; requires 15+ years of experience as a software or system architect.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include architecture definition, prototyping, and cross-team collaboration.
- Lead architecture for cloud networking, including orchestration, provisioning, and security solutions.
- Design system architectures for DPU and NIC technologies.
- Develop end-to-end solutions spanning application, orchestration, and hardware layers.
- Author clear, reliable architecture specifications and design documents.
- Evaluate new technologies and implement rapid proof-of-concept prototypes.
- Collaborate with software and hardware architects, R&D, product, solution teams, and field engineers across regions.
- Engage directly with customers on advanced and future technologies and solutions.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 15+ years as a software or system architect.
- Proficient in C and Python.
- Hands-on Linux development experience and familiarity with Docker and container technologies.
- Experience with cloud and data-center networking; strong knowledge of networking protocols and topologies.
- Strong design, coding, debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work concurrently with multiple global teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, documentation, and presentation skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Development experience with networking/security devices (NICs, DPUs, switches, routers, firewalls).
- Familiarity with operating systems and device drivers.
- Experience with DPDK, OVS, OVN.
- Experience with Kubernetes components, CRDs, Operators, system plugins, and CNI plugins (e.g., Calico, Flannel).
- Experience with OpenStack, OpenShift, or cloud APIs.
Education Requirements
B.Sc, M.Sc, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
