Job Title
System Performance Analysis Engineer
Role Summary
Perform system-level performance analysis of pre-silicon Arm-based SoCs using simulation and hardware emulation. Work with architecture, design and verification teams to identify bottlenecks, recommend mitigations and improve SoC performance and analysis flows.
Experience Level
Mid-level — the role specifies a minimum of 5 years of professional experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include designing and executing investigations that reveal system-level performance behaviour and root causes.
- Run performance experiments on pre-silicon SoC platforms using simulation and hardware emulation.
- Bring up and debug complex workloads on future SoCs.
- Analyze performance of CPUs, interconnects, memory subsystems and I/O under realistic workloads.
- Identify and root-cause system-level performance bottlenecks.
- Develop and execute performance benchmarks, tests and analysis flows.
- Investigate interactions between multiple IPs and system components.
- Collaborate with architecture, design and verification teams to improve performance.
- Contribute to tooling and automation to improve debug efficiency and workflows.
- Present findings and technical recommendations to engineering teams.
Requirements
Essential technical skills and experience required for day-to-day success.
Must have
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in system or performance analysis.
- Strong understanding of computer and system architecture.
- Good knowledge of memory systems, cache coherency and interconnect architectures.
- Experience in performance analysis, system investigation or low-level debugging.
- Familiarity with pre-silicon environments such as simulation and/or hardware emulation.
- Experience with scripting or programming (e.g. Python, Ruby, C, C++).
- Experience with Unix/Linux environments and source control (e.g. Git).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Arm architectures and CPU instruction sets.
- Understanding of multiprocessor systems and coherency protocols.
- Experience with Verilog/SystemVerilog, low-level software, drivers or firmware.
- Experience with performance benchmarking/profiling tools and hardware emulation platforms.
- Familiarity with networking or server workloads and strong root-cause debugging skills.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
