Job Title

System Level Test Engineer, Senior

Role Summary

Work on system-level characterization and validation of Snapdragon-class SoCs and platform products from early silicon bring-up through post-silicon validation and production support. The role spans hardware bring-up, software integration, system performance characterization, and collaboration with production test and software teams.

Experience Level

Senior - typically requires 4–8+ years of hands-on experience in system-level testing, hardware-software interaction testing, or related hardware engineering roles.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include system validation, debug, and test development across hardware and software boundaries.

  • Plan and execute system-level validation and characterization across voltage, process, thermal, and workload conditions.
  • Support silicon bring-up, post-silicon validation, and new product introduction (NPI) activities.
  • Develop and run test cases for Android-based devices and evaluate integrated system performance.
  • Debug system-level failures using Android debugging tools and JTAG tools (e.g., Lauterbach/Trace32).
  • Work with production test teams to develop production screens, provide shop-floor support, and handle OSAT interactions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, firmware, software) to triage issues and implement fixes.
  • Use lab measurement and system-level equipment to collect and analyze performance data.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience required for the role. Education-specific requirements are listed in the Education Requirements section below.

  • 4–8+ years of hands-on experience in system / SW / bench test or HW–SW interaction testing, preferably in mobile devices or microprocessor industries.
  • Experience characterizing processors, PCIe, graphics, memory, thermal and power behavior of ASICs/platforms.
  • Experience developing and executing test plans and test cases for Android devices; strong knowledge of Android architecture, boot, kernel, BSP, and performance.
  • Hands-on debug and triage experience with Android debugging tools and/or JTAG tools (Lauterbach/Trace32).
  • Experience with production testing practices including Gauge R&R and shop-floor support.
  • Strong analytical and logical reasoning skills for system-level failure analysis.

Nice-to-have:

  • Module / SiP / board testing experience in NPI or HVM; server product experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with electrical and system-level measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, network simulators).
  • Experience with high-speed interfaces (HDMI, WiFi, PCIe, SATA, HSUSB) and mixed-signal circuits (ADC, DAC, PLL).
  • Programming experience in C#, .NET, C/C++, Perl, or Python; source control experience (Perforce, Git).
  • Experience with system-level benchmarks and stress tests; PCB-level debug and SMT-related troubleshooting; ability to read schematics and layout files.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. The posting also lists experience-based alternatives (examples given): Bachelor's + 2+ years relevant experience, Master's + 1+ year, or PhD. (Degrees and equivalent-experience options summarized from the source.)
