Job Title

System Level Test Engineer, Senior

Role Summary

Senior engineer in the System Level Test (SLT) group responsible for silicon bring-up, post-silicon validation, and system-level testing of Snapdragon SoCs across mobile, compute, automotive and server platforms.

Work as part of cross-functional teams on IC design review, hardware validation, test automation, system engineering and creating production test screens to verify performance, stability and quality under varying operating conditions.

Experience Level

Senior. Minimum qualifications indicate practical hardware engineering experience (typical guidance: 2+ years with a Bachelor's, 1+ year with a Master's). Preferred experience range is approximately 2–6 years in system or bench-level testing.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include early silicon bring-up, post-silicon validation and developing automated system-level test solutions.

  • Perform early-stage silicon bring-up and post-silicon validation with system software.
  • Test and characterize hardware and verify device performance across voltage, process and temperature corners.
  • Create automated test content to stress SoCs (functional, performance, stability, benchmarks) across product domains.
  • Develop and validate production screening for system-level issues in collaboration with project leads.
  • Read specifications, create test plans, execute test sequences and summarize test results.
  • Work with firmware/software and hardware teams on IC design review, debug and customer-facing validation.
  • Operate lab equipment and perform debugging and triage to identify root causes of issues.

Requirements

Essential and preferred technical skills and experience.

  • Must-have: Practical experience in hardware engineering or system/bench-level testing; embedded systems and SoC-level testing concepts; ability to develop and execute test cases for processors, graphics, memory, thermal and power behavior.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with reading specifications, creating test plans and using test sequencers.
  • Must-have: Programming experience in one or more languages such as C, C++, Python, C# or .NET.
  • Must-have: Experience with source control systems (Perforce or Git) and ability to collect, analyze and summarize test data.
  • Must-have: Hands-on use of lab measurement tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies) and experience with debugging tools (Android debugging tools, JTAG, Lauterbach, Trace32).
  • Nice-to-have: Understanding of computer architecture and operating systems (Android, Windows, Linux, RTOS) and Android system architecture/boot process.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with system-level benchmarks such as Dhrystone and DOU, and prior experience in mobile, automotive, IoT or microprocessor industries.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering or related field (with 2+ years hardware engineering experience), OR Master's degree in those fields (with 1+ year experience), OR PhD in a related field. Posting also cites relevant academic projects or internships in silicon validation, embedded systems or hardware bring-up as beneficial.
